Ondo Finance announced plans to launch a tokenized stock and exchange-traded fund platform on the Solana blockchain in early 2026. The platform will allow users to trade US-listed stocks and ETFs around the clock, with settlement completed in seconds instead of days.

The launch combines three elements that rarely meet in one product: regulated financial assets, continuous trading, and blockchain-based settlement.
What is Ondo Finance and What Does it do?
Ondo Finance is a real-world asset issuer focused on bringing traditional financial products onto blockchains. Its core products tokenize assets such as US Treasuries, stocks, and ETFs, allowing them to be represented and transferred as onchain tokens.
Unlike synthetic exposure products, Ondo’s offerings are backed by real underlying assets held in regulated custody. The blockchain layer handles settlement and record keeping, while the assets themselves remain governed by existing securities laws.
Ondo’s platform keeps trading open at all times. Orders can be placed, matched, and settled continuously. This structure benefits several types of users:
- Global investors in different time zones
- Crypto-native traders accustomed to nonstop markets
- Institutions seeking faster capital movement
As of late 2025, Ondo has issued roughly $365 million in tokenized assets. According to data from RWA.xyz, this makes Ondo the largest issuer in the tokenized real-world asset sector. The next largest provider, Backed Finance, held about $162 million in tokenized assets before being acquired by Kraken earlier this month.
Why is Ondo Launching Tokenized Stocks and ETFs on Solana?
Ondo’s decision to deploy on Solana is tied to performance and scale.
Solana is designed for high transaction throughput and low latency. For a platform that plans to support continuous trading and near-instant settlement, network speed is a requirement.
Ondo has framed the Solana launch as a way to support:
- 24/7 trading of US stocks and ETFs
- Settlement in seconds rather than traditional T+1 or T+2 cycles
- Higher transaction capacity during peak trading periods
- Lower transaction costs for frequent trades
Traditional stock markets operate on fixed schedules and rely on multi-day post-trade settlement systems. Ondo’s model keeps trading open at all times, including weekends and holidays, while using blockchain rails to finalize ownership changes almost immediately.
How Large is the Tokenized Real-world Asset Market?
The broader market for tokenized real-world assets has grown in recent months.
Since August, total value locked in tokenized RWAs has more than doubled and is now approaching $700 million. This figure includes tokenized Treasuries, credit products, funds, and equities.
Ondo alone accounts for more than half of that total. Its scale gives it a first-mover advantage, particularly as competition consolidates. The acquisition of Backed Finance by Kraken reduced the number of large independent issuers and raised the bar for regulatory and technical execution.
Ondo’s expansion to Solana follows its October launch on BNB Chain. That move gave Ondo access to a network with roughly 3.4 million daily users. The Solana rollout targets a different audience, one that prioritizes speed, liquidity, and active trading.
How Does Regulation Affect Ondo’s Solana Launch?
Regulation has been one of the biggest unknowns in the real-world asset sector. For Ondo, that uncertainty recently eased.
Last week, the US Securities and Exchange Commission closed a confidential investigation into Ondo Finance without filing charges. The review began in 2024 during a period of heightened enforcement across the crypto industry.
The SEC examined two main issues:
- Whether Ondo’s tokenized US Treasuries and equities complied with federal securities laws
- Whether the ONDO token itself should be classified as a security
After two years, the agency ended the inquiry without enforcement action.
This outcome removes legal overhang from Ondo’s core business. It also suggests that tokenization models which mirror traditional investor protections can operate within existing rules.
Ondo has said it designed its products to reflect standard market safeguards. These include regulated custody, transparent disclosures, and eligibility controls based on investor status.
What is SWEEP and How Does it Fit into Ondo’s Strategy?
Ondo’s expansion is not limited to tokenized stocks and ETFs. On Dec. 10, Ondo joined State Street Investment Management and Galaxy Asset Management to launch SWEEP, a tokenized liquidity fund.
SWEEP stands for the State Street Galaxy Onchain Liquidity Sweep Fund. It adapts the concept of traditional sweep accounts to a blockchain environment.
The fund will:
- Target a launch on Solana in early 2026
- Accept subscriptions and redemptions in PYUSD
- Be available only to Qualified Purchasers
- Include an anchor investment from Ondo through OUSG
Ondo has committed about $200 million as seed capital.
Sweep funds are commonly used by institutions to park idle cash in short-term instruments while maintaining liquidity. SWEEP preserves this structure but uses blockchain rails for settlement and transparency.
Galaxy Asset Management will assist with fund operations and distribution. State Street brings experience in institutional cash management. Ondo’s participation through OUSG adds a high-quality reserve component.
This setup also improves liquidity management across Ondo’s product suite. Deeper liquidity reduces redemption pressure during volatile market conditions.
Conclusion
Ondo’s Solana launch reflects a broader trend in financial infrastructure. Tokenization is moving beyond pilot projects and into production systems used by institutions and retail investors.
The focus is shifting from experimentation to reliability, compliance, and integration with existing markets. Ondo’s regulatory outcomes, network expansions, and institutional partnerships point in that direction.
